Abstract
Piezoelectric energy harvesting constitutes a significant part of renewable energy systems. This paper presents a scalable Parallel Synchronized Switch Harvesting on Inductor (P-SSHI) interface circuit that enables multiple Piezoelectric Transducers (PZT) to share a single inductor for energy extraction. The proposed design resolves conflicts arising from simultaneous inductor access without the complex control circuitry for time-division multiplexing. The simulation results confirm that the circuit can effectively harvest energy from multiple PZTs under arbitrary phase conditions. As harvesting energy with a single PZT, the proposed circuit achieves a maximum output power of 372.93 μW, whereas the Standard Energy Harvesting (SEH) circuit delivers 204.72 μW, corresponding to an 82% improvement. With multiple PZT inputs, the circuit achieves a maximum output power of 590.91 μW, compared with 338.69 μW for the SEH circuit. This corresponds to a 75% improvement in maximum output power.
