Abstract
To address the limitations of conventional cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverters, which require multiple isolated DC power supplies, a single-input cascaded H-bridge inverter with integrated boost capability is proposed in this paper. An in-depth analysis is conducted on its key technologies, including circuit topology, control strategy, and high-frequency switching process. The circuit topology is composed of a DC power supply, energy storage capacitors, a cascaded H-bridge, four-quadrant switches, and an LC output filter. It only relies on one independent DC power supply, with energy storage capacitors employed to replace the multiple DC power supplies in traditional cascaded H-bridge inverters. The proposed inverter not only retains the inherent advantages of traditional cascaded H-bridge inverters such as fewer required components and low output harmonics but also eliminates the need for multiple independent DC power supplies. This effectively reduces the system cost and endows the inverter with excellent application prospects in photovoltaic grid-connected systems.
